I display my excitement through fine art paintings to reveal the true spirit within me which comes from my Zapotec Indian heritage. the Zapotec Indians, "People from the clouds" created weavings, statuettes and architectural structures which are influenced by their belief that the Zapotec were born from the Earth, Jaguar, and the Sky.
My grandmother was a 100% Zapotec Indian and created art through dress designs and blanket weaving. She created her art by sight measurements and hand cutting. My father was a wood carver and also repaired religious statues for churches. My heritage is translated through my paintings in oils. My works depict a direct influence of the Earth and Sky in my cultural related designs and colors.
I have been drawing and painting since an early age and have expanded my knowledge of the technical aspects of art through college instruction. I have recently begun to share my work with the public through displays in galleries. Many of my original Cantu Paintings are currently being displayed at the Inter-Artisan Gallery in San Antonio.
